Recently, I attended the Rann of Kutch Festival. Rann Utsav is an annually organized festival that helps visitors to experience beautiful and colorful aspects of Kutch. Visitors also get an opportunity to watch the folk dance, artisans at work, and shop directly from craftspeople. When you’re in Kutch, you also get to see great historical monuments and visit places off the usual tourist trail.
1. The journey starts from Ahmedabad
The Rann of Kutch Festival trip was organized and sponsored by Gujarat Tourism. Along with me, seventeen people were also part of the trip, including RJ Dixi, RJ Riya, and many other exciting people.
After our initial formalities and check-in at the tent city, we went to the area where Rann Utsav was organized. The view from this place was soothing. After that, we headed to the Rann of Kutch.
2. Visiting the white Rann of Kutch
As it was the time of Rann Utsav, the footfall was more than usual. The first thing that comes to your mind after visiting this place is that it’s Huge! If we talk about the sheer size, the entire desert is about 7500 km in area and one of the largest salt deserts in the world.
All of a sudden, the land had been covered with a white blanket, making it glow. The sun shining on the ground made the salt glitter more. I also took a camel ride to explore and experience the enormous desert.
3. Sunset in the white desert of Kutch
Sunsets are always surreal and, it’s a treat to the eyes. I witnessed a beautiful and mesmerizing sunset. Sunset at the white desert of Kutch had something different to offer, including the open surroundings.
One can see the transformation of the sun. During the day, it shines bright and high and then slowly starts to mellow down and descend during the evening. After the sunset, we visited the Cultural Activity Area in the night.
4. Gujarati people can play Garba everywhere! 💃🕺
In the evening, we all enjoyed the culture of Kutch. We experienced multiple entertaining activities at the Cultural Activity Area near Tent City, Dhordo. One of the memorable moments from all the cultural events was a singer giving his performance in his incredible voice. Besides, we all also did the Garba! As you all know, a bunch of Gujarati people can play Garba anytime, anywhere.
Overall, attending the Rann of Kutch Festival was an exceptional experience. I got a chance to meet many new people during the trip. Besides, I got to see the colorful culture of Kutch and the beauty of the white desert. Good food and overall experience made it an incredible journey.
Although we may have seen it many times in movies, real-life experience is always better. As rightly said, there is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.
